Activity Idea:
Print the word FRIEND on a sheet of paper. Have kids draw pictures of things they do with their friends. Above the “F” and “R,” draw two friends playing together (e. g., throwing a ball to each other, flying a kite, playing tag). Draw another picture above the “N” and “D,” creating a slide on the letter “D” and the children going down the slide (or tobogganing, going to the park together, etc.). Draw other pictures below the word FRIEND (e.g., swimming together, lying down and looking at the clouds together, etc.).

Lyrics

I will be your friend
Will you be my friend?
There’s so much that two friends can do;
When you are just one
It’s not as much fun
All my favorite games take “two”

We could climb trees and
We could catch tadpoles
Build a fort out of rocks and stones.
I will be your friend
Will you be my friend?
Then we won’t have to play alone

Chorus:
I HAVE A TREEHOUSE MY DADDY BUILT
I CLIMB UP THERE AND HIDE;
BUT IT’S NO FUN WHEN I’M ALL ALONE
I KNOW THERE’S ROOM FOR TWO INSIDE

If I was your friend
If you were my friend
I would always stick up for you;
We would start sharing
We would start caring
We’d be friends, and that’s what friends do

(Repeat Chorus)

I will be your friend,
Will you be my friend?
I will always stick up for you;
We will start sharing
We will start caring
We’ll be friends, and that’s what friends do
